Surface, interface and thin film provide a large playground for scienti sts to study various properties related to the special behaviors of atoms, phonons, charges and spins in a 2D environment. Nowadays, with much advanced progress in the development of the instruments, and the ability to prepare and characterize surfaces,
interfaces, and thin films, many exotic phases can be produced with a high degree of perfecti on and more subtle and detailed physics can be thus extrapolated. Angle resolved photoemission is the most powerful tool for mapping the electronic band structures and detecting the electronic behaviors in the materials. With the latest advanced energy analyzers, the 2D image of the whole electronic band structures can be easily and quickly obtained with high energy and angle resolution. My research plan is mainly to
study the electronic structures of surfaces, thin films and interfaces in various systems, which can be categorized into three branches.

1. Study the surface states in the open surface like Al(110),Be(1010) and Be(1120).
2. Study the surface states and quantum well states of 2D thin fi lms in various systems like Ag/Ge(111), Pb/Ge(111), Co/Ge(111) and Ag/Cr(100).
3. Study the interface electronic structures of organic light emitti ng diodes materials. The ongoing project is to investi gate HOMO states or interfacial states in AIDCN organic thin fi lm on metal surfaces such as Al(111) and Ag(111).
