Holography was first formulated by t' Hooft and Susskind in the early 90's. It received a  concrete realization as a duality relation in string theory by Maldacena in 1997. Holographic duality revolutionized our understanding of gravity and strongly coupled critical phenomenon and  points to a paradigm shift.  This is a course on holographic duality. We will be particularly  interested in its application in condensed matter physics. ---
